Twitterfone
Aug 07, 2008
Twitterfone launched in May to let Twitter users post new messages by calling in to a phone number and speaking out what they want to say. The service then converts the message to text and posts it to your Twitter account along with a link to the audio file. The service is a great way to leave a quick Twitter message when you’re away from your computer and only have access to a phone – the service offers local number in 19 countries and is expanding regularly. The company says 20,000 people have signed up for the service since launch.
Sweet Wayfinding System

This award winning wayfinding system by Axel Peemoeller only works when you are standing or driving in the correct spot. Very clever thinking here.

Saw this over at wtfispantone.com and had to laugh:
“I used to not be able to watch the show Dogs With Jobs because I was jealous the dogs had jobs and I didn’t.”- my roommate
Apple Oops
Aug 06, 2008
In light of the recent oops by Apple with the Mobile Me debacle, Ars Technica has published the internal email from Steve Jobs to the Apple team. Here it is:
Team,The launch of MobileMe was not our finest hour. There are several things we could have done better:
– MobileMe was simply not up to Apple’s standards – it clearly needed more time and testing.
– Rather than launch MobileMe as a monolithic service, we could have launched over-the-air syncing with iPhone to begin with, followed by the web applications one by one – Mail first, followed 30 days later (if things went well with Mail) by Calendar, then 30 days later by Contacts.
– It was a mistake to launch MobileMe at the same time as iPhone 3G, iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store. We all had more than enough to do, and MobileMe could have been delayed without consequence.
We are taking many steps to learn from this experience so that we can grow MobileMe into a service that our customers will love. One step that I can share with you today is that the MobileMe team will now report to Eddy Cue, who will lead all of our internet services – iTunes, the App Store and, starting today, MobileMe. Eddy’s new title will be Vice President, Internet Services and he will now report directly to me.
The MobileMe launch clearly demonstrates that we have more to learn about Internet services. And learn we will. The vision of MobileMe is both exciting and ambitious, and we will press on to make it a service we are all proud of by the end of this year.

Lunar Moth

This bad boy tried flying up my shorts today. Some birds were trying to eat it for breakfast before I rescued…er, before I walked by. FWIW, for all you Save the Whale types, he’s not dead…this is just a still photograph.

The great website, A List Apart, is facilitating a survey intended to better understand our industry and hopefully help to make it better. That or they are just some nosey dudes. Anyhow, if you are a designer or web person, give it a whirl at: http://alistapart.com/articles/survey2008
